New tools
So, I added a new tool to my arsenal. I'd been seeing on the Facebook groups about how people are calculating how long it will be before they are debt free. So I asked around what app or spreadsheet they use. I was pointed to Debt Payoff Planner. https://debt-payoff-planner.com/ (Not affiliated with them, but if they want to sponsor someone, I'm here for you!)
So, with this app, you can get the free or the paid version. The paid version doesn't have ads and you can get payment reminders and I'm sure a lot more things. I just have the free version (trying to save money).
Anyway, you input your accounts, how much is left, interest, yada yada and PooF! You get a date for when you'll be debt free. Pretty cool. And it accounts for the debt snowball or debt avalanche (paying the highest interest rate first). And, as you make the payments, it will tell you how many payments you have left before an account is paid off, if you pay the minimum! Note: I do not pay the minimum. But, if you only pay the minimum and roll the minimums of the accounts you've paid off into the next minimum, you have your timeline. Now, if you pay more than the minimum, theoretically, you can shave months off your payoff date.
I entered all my data in on Wednesday while I was waiting for DoorDash orders. Started at 3 years, 7 months. I am now at 3 years, 5 months. By paying about $96 on Wayfair, and $100 on the dental bill, then making minimum payments on the unsecured loan and capital one card.
Right now, if I pay minimum payments for the next 9 months, I will have paid off the Wayfair account. Of course, you know me, I'll pay it off faster than that. Heck, I found $96 out of this paycheck to put towards the thing. I get paid with DoorDash every Tuesday. Half that goes into a savings account for tax purposes (for now) and the other half will go to Wayfair. Right now, if I don't work on Saturday or Sunday, I'll have $51 going into Wayfair on Tuesday. Or Wednesday with the holiday. That knocks a month off the Wayfair payoff. Enough of those get knocked off, the sooner I can start paying on the other bills.
That's all I have for tonight, other than my total debt bill is going away. Down to $17,344.21. Looking good. Might be under $17k by the end of the month. Gotta go clean so I can work on listing stuff this weekend. Long 3 day weekend = plenty of opportunities to sell stuff.
