Expenses!
I have a paid off 2012 Subaru Impreza. I love my car. Sheila (my car) has gotten me out of snowbanks and through blizzards, sometimes swimming through snow up to the bottom of the door. Love Subarus. Well, with this new approach to my spending, and not borrowing anything, I'm not going to get a loan for a new car. Instead, I will save for a newer car. Not brand new (unless I can buy it outright), but I still want all the bells and whistles. And it will be a Subaru. You kinda need all-wheel drive in Minnesnowta.
So, I made this decision and I'm looking at the oil change that I need to do in September. The dealership also listed that a transmission fluid flush is recommended and a water pump and timing belt replacement. Called the dealership and got a price quote for everything. $1600! That's more than the emergency fund will have. Currently I have $592 in the emergency fund. I took out $300 from the SmartyPig fund where I was putting half my DoorDash income. Add in $713 from the property tax refund that is coming (hopefully soon). That is $1605. That will pay for the maintenance needed. But, my emergency fund is gone. So, we are starting at $5.00. This week I have $82.00 from DoorDash. All of that is going into the emergency fund until it is fully funded.
Have I mentioned I hate being broke?
So, this week we are looking at $87.00 for the emergency fund. This week is payday, so I'll have $25.00 going into that fund automatically. I might have $75.00 extra from the paycheck. Depends on if my employer takes out the payroll tax. Apparently, it is not required. But I'm hoping they do, because that's a little extra.
If I work every day I can on DoorDash, and make at least $20 a shift, and do 2 shifts on Saturday and Sunday, I will make at least $480.00. Tonight's shift was good. I made $32.00. I dashed on Sunday and made $82.00.
I need to sell more items. I have my current kitchen table up for $50.00 on local FB groups. My grandmother's table is arriving on Sunday, so that thing needs to be gone.
Murphy's law sucks. And before you say that I'm getting fleeced at the dealership - I know. But I don't trust the local mechanics. I get my oil change at the dealership so that they tell me what else needs to be done to keep my car running at optimum capacity, at least for the next couple years until I can afford a newer car. I can't afford to be without a vehicle. I want the dealership to take care of my baby. That way if there is a recall on a part they used, they will tell me and replace it for free. And I get a free rental if they need to keep the car overnight. The reasons are endless.
That's all for tonight. I need to get listing items and get to bed at a decent time.
Oh, before I forget - I also sold a Longaberger basket liner for $11.70. Every little bit helps.
