Took the day off

I decided to take the day off today. I have a lot to do around the house. I got my Federal refund this week, so guess what the first thing I did was? I brought my savings account up to $1000. There! I have the savings fund started.

So, next step - pay off debt. You'll see that my debt actually went up a little bit. That's because I had fillings done at the dentist on Wednesday. That was about $191 added to the debt. But, today I paid off my Line of Credit loan with my credit union - $171.76. Do you know how good that feels? Woohoo!

So the next bill is my Torrid account, which is sitting at $429.98.  On Friday, when I get paid, I will be paying $50.00 - the minimum $35.00 plus the $15 minimum payment for the LOC loan. Plus, whatever extra.

Last night, I purchased the tile and materials I need for my bathroom remodel. This morning, I pulled up the baseboards and quarterboard. The junk guys also came over and picked up the recliner, water softener and a small table. I paid less than they had quoted me, which made me very happy!

I received very good news yesterday. My former manager had recommended me for a raise before he left and it went through! I got an 8.95% raise! *Happy Dance* That means I was able to bump up my 401k allocation to 3% and next year I'll be able to bump up my HSA allocation. That's about $100 more a paycheck. Maybe less if my taxes go up, too. We'll see.

So, all in all, a very good week.

Now, back to the $1000 savings account. It's more of an emergency fund than savings account, truthfully. What happens is that at every paycheck, I will allocate it all. Every last penny. Anything beyond bills will go towards the Torrid account (or whichever debt account I'm working on). If something comes up that I need to pay for, like dance, or something from the store or tires - anything outside of the bills, I'm going to use the emergency fund for. Remember, I'm still paying into that fund with $25 every paycheck and all my Stash Your Cash. So, the next time I get money, whether it is from selling something or a refund or paycheck, the money will first go to replenishing that emergency fund and then towards whatever debt I'm working on. Follow me?

I installed my new EcoBee 3 lite smart thermostat today. Had to call Ecobee and have them walk me through the installation, but everything is hooked up, I didn't electrocute myself or ruin my HVAC.  Working on laundry right now and bills and waiting for stuff to dry in the bathroom before I start painting the ceiling and tiling. Going to go rent the tile cutter tomorrow and start bright and early getting that project going. Fingers crossed I bought enough tile.

That's all for now!
