The end of a busy weekend

I spent most of the weekend working on a box of inventory to send to a little shop who is interested in doing consignment with me. They have a gift shop on Lake Michigan and want some of my soap savers to sell with their artisan soaps. I also had a few orders come in, so I was shipping those out.

As you can see, my savings has gone up! I'm now sitting at $70.79 in savings.

I love watching football. Last night the Vikings lost spectacularly to the 49ers. And since I refuse to root for the Packers until they get rid of crybaby Rodgers, I no longer have a football team to watch until August. So I cancelled Hulu Live until next season. That's going to save me roughly $50 a month. Sweet!

So, you know those blog posts that show you amazing ways to make money? Well, one of them is an app that will pay you to play certain video games. The longer you stay logged into the game, the more money you make. All well and good if you have nothing better to do and you like playing video games all day. I tried it. I've been playing "Township" for the past week and yes, it is addicting. Coupled with my addictive personality (can you say I bought a house so I could have a room just for my yarn???), and you have a recipe for disaster. My production numbers at work are low, and this weekend I didn't do as much as I wanted because I was constantly logging into the game to see if the allotted amount of time had passed for me to do more stuff. Addictive waste of time. If I want to waste my time, I could scroll through Facebook endlessly and watch cute animal videos. Not to mention I keep getting push notifications on my phone related to the game.

Yeah, no, I'm done with this. This is why I don't like video games! They suck you in and waste your time. Tomorrow it is being deleted from my phone. Tomorrow, because I'm waiting to see if today's log ins will raise the amount of money I'm supposed to get. A whole $1. I'd have better luck at the scratch game app Lucktastic.

Yeah, I downloaded that one, too. Also a waste of time. I don't know how people can win on this thing. Another app I found on this blog. You "scratch" game cards with the hopes of winning money. In reality, you are earning tokens to play towards a daily drawing for Amazon gift cards. Trust me, unless you have a ton of free time and you don't watch tv - avoid it. There's so much more you can do with your time.

I suppose I could use this as a side hustle to put pennies into my savings account, but honestly - I don't want to. Hello addictive personality! I know enough about myself to know that this is a bad idea. I'm looking at a rabbit hole of wasted time.

Let's see - oh, they recommend Ibotta and Ebates and Fetch and Get Upside as other apps to download. These help you earn money on things you've already bought. Like a certain brand of toilet paper or a new frozen food. I've made a little money (again, in the form of gift cards, not real money) and it doesn't take any more effort that to take a picture of my receipt, so I'll keep those for now. If anything, they'll fuel my addition to books on Amazon.

I can see why my mom has avoided getting a smartphone until recently. These developers make so much money getting you addicted to your phones. I think I need to take a social media break from my phone, I think. Honestly. I use it for FB to keep up with inquiries on the stuff I list. I have it for Instagram for this page (@debt_freemama). I'm not on Twitter, I don't use the calendar app except to let my son know of appointments and such. I text. I think it's time to do a clean up on my phone and a phone detox. Like I said before - Addictive personality plus rabbit holes.

Well, I have to get back to listing Longaberger stuff. See you all later!
