Oh, my friends, it has been a difficult week so far. That lovely little nest egg I was building? Well, that is gone. Why? Well, I was behind on a few bills, and in looking at my finances for next month, I was looking at being about $450 short of paying all my bills. Now, the $193 I had saved wouldn't cover all of the shortage, but it covered some. After all, it makes no sense to save money when I was behind in bills. Right?

So, we have a new plan of attack. Still want to save $5000.  But, that savings is going to grow only by A) my $25 every 2 weeks, B) the Stash Your Cash I get from my checking and grocery accounts, and then, after all bills are paid for the month, C) extra money from the account and money I get from selling stuff. Yeah, it is going to grow very slowly indeed. But, I have to keep up with my bills, right?

So, that $193 went towards the overdue payments owed on Electric and Gas companies, and I paid my Torrid account early. So, my debt total went down a little, which feels great.

I really, really dislike living paycheck to paycheck. I don't feel like I ever get ahead of my bills. Even paying the minimum. I am bound and determined never to live like this again. I want to be able to pay my bills as they come in, and not have to wait for a paycheck. Wishful thinking, I know. But, it is a goal.

I did get my taxes filed last night. Yay! All in all, I am getting back about $2838. That money is going towards bills if I need it, and glasses for my son. Then, whatever is left over, will go to savings. Still counting down the days until I get my shares from my day job. That money will go towards paying off the love seat and recliner, and bills. And the start of my bathroom remodel.

Funny story. I bought this townhouse in 2014. Most of the rooms got repainted. But I couldn't figure out what to do with the downstairs bathroom. When the painters painted my living room and dining room, I asked them to put the leftover primer on the walls of the bathroom. There was enough for 3 walls. Sort of. So I have 1 very bright green wall and 3 walls of white painted over green. I finally decided that I'm going to tile over the walls. I found this really nice tile pattern that I'm going to use and if it goes well, I'll tile the upstairs bathroom, too. The bathrooms have been a sore spot in my house. But, I have no clue how to tile, so I'm going to find some classes. And I at least have to have the downstairs bathroom done by June for my son's open house. Fun, right? And I get to do it myself because I can't afford to pay someone to do it. Oh well. I figured out I can rent some equipment like a tile cutter at my local hardware store. Eventually, I will take out the massive vanity in the downstairs bathroom and be able to fit in a litter box down there.

And re-organize my garage and office. Repaint my office. And put up shelves in the furnace room to replace the shelving unit for my pantry. All of this costs money! I just hope we get some overtime soon.

That's all for tonight. Have to get ready to go to the dance studio.
