Payday!
Today is payday! It is a day I love (because I get money), but also hate (because I have to pay bills). So, let's break it down.
Good news - yesterday I finished an order for some planner stickers for a friend and she paid me. So, I have $27.89 going directly into my savings account. Yay! And I had $17.70 left in my bank account prior to today. So that's going into the savings account, too.
My paycheck this week was $1035.33.
$250 goes into the grocery account and $25 goes into my savings account.
My phone bill was automatically debited - $71.45.
I paid the monthly minimum on my Christopher and Banks Credit Card - $37.00
Paid off an overdue medical bill - $81.48
And other than my mortgage, that's all I have to pay off this paycheck. I'll make my mortgage payment on the 1st, after I get my VA benefit check. So, right now I have about $356.68 left. I'm going to get my nails done on Monday, so that will take out $35.00. So $321.68 to start paying next paychecks bills.
If you're trying to save money, why are you getting your nails done? Simple fact - I like getting my nails done. My nails are very brittle and weak, so the polish helps keep them strong and they don't break as often. Which makes me feel better about myself, which makes me want to keep bettering myself. Sometimes to make money, you have to spend money.
Anyway, back to bills. So, a part of my spreadsheet I use is a budgeting tool. I have columns which have my paycheck dates and everything that I plan on paying with that paycheck. So, things that are due before the next paycheck. Example: I get paid next on 1/10/2020. Under that date, I have a bill for electricity due on 1/11/2020. It is after the date I get paid, but before my next paycheck (1/24/2020), so I would like to pay it with my 1/10 paycheck. Make sense?
Now, obviously, I can pay those bills earlier, and I like to when I have the money to do so. Like today.
I like to pay my credit card bills early, so we will start with the Capital One bill of $186.00. Again, this is the minimum monthly payment. But, Poof! I don't have to pay it on the 10th.
Next is the dental bill of $85.00. Actually, this one is late, so I have to add a late fee of $39.00 to my overall debt. Yikes! But $85.00 is paid.
That leaves me with about $50.68 left from this paycheck. I'm going to keep that in the checking account in case something pops up.
My total debt is now $18,120.47. I will update on Monday and on the 1st - Monday I am paying down one of my medical bills with my HSA and the 1st is my mortgage payment.
Until then!
